Chris Tanner is the Managing Partner of Tanner Heeter, P.A. His practice focuses on wetland regulation, mitigation and conservation banking, stormwater permitting, water use, submerged lands, regulatory enforcement, and administrative litigation throughout Florida. He is also an active leader in Florida’s environmental law community and serves on the board of the Florida Association of Mitigation Bankers.
Before entering private practice, Chris served as counsel for the Southwest Florida Water Management District, advising on environmental permitting and regulatory issues and gaining firsthand insight into the agency decision-making processes that now inform his advocacy for clients. He previously served as Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs at the Florida Department of Financial Services and as Senior Cabinet Aide to Florida’s Chief Financial Officer, advising on legislative and policy matters involving the acquisition, management, and disposition of state-owned lands, including sovereignty submerged lands.
Prior to attending Florida State University College of Law, Chris managed his family’s Tampa-based paint manufacturing business founded in 1933. Earlier in his career, he served as a White House intern before becoming assistant to the President’s Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor.
